First Aid Kit are lead by two incredibly talented sisters, Johanna and Klara, who are the core of this folk-inspired group from Sweden. Though the songs on their albums are thick with lots layers of vocals and instruments, the live set is more raw, powerful, and in my opinion more … groovy. It’s easy to get entranced in either form by their beautifully complex harmonies but it’s more often in their live performance that I’m also taken by the strong rhythmic cadences as well.
They are currently touring Europe to support their upcoming full length album, The Lion’s Roar, a follow up to 2010s Big Black & the Blue and will be returning to the U.S. in late March through April (though no other Los Angeles dates are planned at this time).
